To prepare rice and potatoes as a side dish for meat or fish dishes, you will need a minimum of ingredients other than the basic ones. These are onions, garlic, salt, oil and a set of spices to taste. In principle, you can even do without onions - it will still turn out delicious. This particular dish can be prepared in several ways: simply simmer, boil and fry, and then mix or make it in the form of pilaf, but without meat (although meat or mushrooms wouldn’t hurt)).
You can cook it in a saucepan on the stove, in a pot in the oven, or in a slow cooker. The last method is the fastest and easiest. First, onions are fried in oil with salt, spices, and garlic. Add uncooked rice and diced potatoes. Keep it in the “Baking” mode for 5-10 minutes, then add water and switch to “Stewing” or “Pilaf”. The time is set depending on the multi model (it will be written in the instructions), if the program does not have its own time.
For the recipe for rice with potatoes in the form of aromatic pilaf, you will also need: butter (for more aromatic flavor), salt and turmeric (for brightness and aroma). It is better to use basmati rice. You can cook in several modes. For the first, the cereal is cooked until tender, and then stewed with raw potatoes placed on the bottom of a cauldron in melted butter. Before stewing, add water, salt to taste, and add turmeric. Products can also be laid out in layers, alternating potatoes and rice. Pour a spoonful of melted butter on top. This dish should simmer over low heat for about two hours. It is worth noting that it is not necessary to cook the rice; you can take it raw - this will be the second mode.
For the third, potatoes are fried until golden brown and combined with boiled rice. Stew together on the stove, adding various spices, sauces, herbs. Or baked in the oven in a special form with a lid (a clay pot is also suitable).
