  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake yeast pies with milk powder in the oven? First, prepare the necessary ingredients for the dough. Powdered milk can be replaced with dry cream.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour yeast and sugar into a deep plate.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add dry milk or dry cream to a glass of warm water and stir very quickly to form a funnel. I noticed that when I stir very quickly, lumps rarely form. And if they appear, they will immediately float up and you can simply remove them with a spoon.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pour the resulting milk into a plate with yeast and sugar.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Mix everything and leave in a warm place for 15-20 minutes to rise the dough. You can identify the risen dough by the foamy cap that has formed.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Prepare the necessary ingredients for the dough. Sift the flour so that it is saturated with oxygen, and the finished pies turn out fluffier and more tender. Melt the butter in a water bath or in the microwave.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Pour half of the sifted flour into a large bowl, add eggs, melted butter and mix.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Then add the risen dough and mix again.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Add the remaining flour in portions and knead the dough. You may need a little more or less flour. I used a measuring cup, it was 600 grams of flour that went into the dough. For table topping, approximately 100 grams.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Dust the table with flour and knead the dough. The finished dough is soft and will slightly stick to your hands. If the dough continues to stick too much during kneading, add about a tablespoon of flour and knead until smooth.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place the finished dough in a deep, large cup, cover with cellophane and top with a towel. Leave the dough in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours to rise.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Prepare the necessary ingredients for the filling.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Prepare mashed potatoes. To do this, peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes so that they cook faster. Pour enough water into the pan so that it is approximately level with the potatoes. Add salt. Boil the potatoes until done.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the peeled and chopped onion and fry until translucent.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

To cool the finished potatoes faster, you can place the pan in a sink with cold water. If there is water left in the pan when cooking potatoes, there is no need to drain it. Use a masher to mash the boiled potatoes. Add the whole roast to the puree along with the oil, nutmeg and stir so that the onion is evenly distributed.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

During this time, the dough will rise approximately 4 times. Remove the cellophane, wet your hands with water and knead the dough.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Dust the table with flour. Divide the dough in half. Take one part and, making a sausage out of it, divide it into 10 parts.

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

Roll out each part into a flat cake with a diameter of approximately 10 cm.

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Place a tablespoon of filling in the middle.

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

Seal the edges as you would with dumplings. Fold the ends of the pie towards the middle.

  21. STEP 21

    STEP 21

Place the pie seam side down and adjust with your hands to form an even oval.

  22. STEP 22

    STEP 22

Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil, place the pies on it, cover with cellophane and leave in a warm place for 20 minutes to proof. In the meantime, you can move on to the second part of the test. Also turn on the oven to 200 degrees in advance.

  23. STEP 23

    STEP 23

Whisk one egg and brush it onto the surface of the pies using a brush.

  24. STEP 24

    STEP 24

    Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

  25. STEP 25

    STEP 25

Send the pies to bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 20 minutes until golden brown. Baking temperatures are different for all ovens, use your own guide.

  26. STEP 26

    STEP 26

I got 20 large pies 10-12 cm long. If you want a smaller size, then make more pieces when cutting the dough.

  27. STEP 27

    STEP 27

This is what the pies look like on the fault.

  28. STEP 28

    STEP 28

The pies made with milk powder are ready. Bon appetit!

  29. STEP 29

    STEP 29

If you don’t eat all the pies at once, you need to cover them with cellophane and a towel.

I have never made dough with the addition of milk powder. When I saw on the website a recipe for yeast pies with milk powder in the oven, I decided to try making them. I bought powdered milk especially for this. I used 600 grams of flour (high grade). Eggs used category C1. The dough turned out very soft, pliable, elastic. In an hour, it increased in size by about 2.5 times. For the filling, I took currant jam and added potato starch to it. I baked the pies for about 25 minutes. The pies turned out very tender, soft, and fluffy. I baked the pies in the morning, and by evening they remained just as soft. Thank you very much for the recipe!

On weekends, I crave cozy homemade baked goods. I decided to bake pies using yeast milk powder in the oven. I just replaced regular milk powder with baby formula. I stirred it in warm water at about 37°C. Remove the resulting lumps with a spoon. The dough rose perfectly, the cap turned out fluffy. I used half as many ingredients, so I used 2.5 cups of flour. The dough is really soft and tender, it fit perfectly. It's easy to work with! For the filling, I boiled the potatoes, mashed them, salted them and added onions. Onions were fried in vegetable oil. Before baking, I brushed the pies with a mixture of eggs and cream. This allowed them to brown nicely. I didn’t use sesame for my own reasons. I baked the pies for 35 minutes at 180°C. They turned out soft and airy! Very tasty, filling, aromatic!

Yesterday I baked pies with milk powder, only with apples. The dough turns out very tasty! Only I make the cakes thicker, and the pies turn out very plump. In general, milk powder is a lifesaver. The main thing is to buy natural, not soy!

Interesting dough recipe. I haven’t tried it with dry milk yet. I took it to KK, I’ll cook it.
