STEP 1
How to stew squid with cabbage? A very simple, quick and affordable dish. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can add the vegetable part to your taste.
STEP 2
Remove the top damaged leaves from the cabbage. Shred the cabbage, avoiding the dense, hard leaves around the stalk.
STEP 3
You can use squids already peeled, without skin or with skin. If you use unpeeled squid, you must first remove the skin from them, remove the insides and the chitinous plate. Cut the prepared squid carcasses into rings. Cut the tail fins into strips.
STEP 4
Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater or a Korean carrot grater.
STEP 5
Peel the garlic and cut into slices.
STEP 6
Wash the dill, dry and finely chop. If you wish, you can replace or supplement with other herbs, for example, dill, cilantro, or use a mixture of different herbs.
STEP 7
Combine tomato paste with water and stir until smooth, breaking up any lumps.
STEP 8
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over low heat. Place cabbage with carrots and garlic.
STEP 9
Pour in water with tomato paste and stir.
STEP 10
Simmer covered, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes until the vegetables are cooked. The exact time depends on your pan, food, and heat level on the stove.
STEP 11
At the end, add salt and pepper to taste.
STEP 12
Add the squid cut into rings and simmer everything together, stirring, for no longer than 3 minutes. If you simmer longer, the squid may become rubbery and tasteless. Ready squids will become white and elastic.
STEP 13
Turn off the heat. Add chopped dill and stir.
STEP 14
Divide the prepared stewed cabbage with squid into plates and serve. Bon appetit!
