Stewed potatoes with meat in a slow cooker
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to stew potatoes and meat in a slow cooker? Prepare the products according to the list. Wash the vegetables and dry with paper towels. Peel the skins from the onion. Instead of tomato paste, you can use tomatoes in their own juice or fresh ones, crushed in a blender until smooth. Also choose any dry spices according to your taste. You will learn all the intricacies of cooking in a slow cooker by reading a separate article on this topic at the link at the end of the recipe.
STEP 2
Rinse the meat well with cold water and then dry with paper towels. Cut off any excess if necessary. Then cut the meat into medium pieces, about 3 cm. Trim off excess fat too.
STEP 3
Set the multicooker to frying mode. I have an older model, so I use the baking mode. I set it to 20 minutes. You focus on your technique. Pour vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl. Wait about 3-5 minutes for the oil to warm up. Then place the chopped meat into the bowl.
STEP 4
Fry the meat with the lid open for about 3-5 minutes, turning the pieces so that it is cooked on all sides. This way we seal the meat juice inside and the meat remains soft.
STEP 5
While the meat is roasting, prepare the vegetables. Peel the onions and carrots. Cut the onion into cubes, grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
STEP 6
Add the chopped vegetables to the meat when it completely changes color. Continue frying, but with the lid closed.
STEP 7
Meanwhile, wash and peel the potatoes. Then cut it into cubes the same size as the meat.
STEP 8
When the frying program is finished, add tomato paste to the multicooker bowl.
STEP 9
Next, place the potatoes in the slow cooker. Salt, pepper, mix everything well. Pour hot water over the meat and potatoes. We do this so that the cooking process is not interrupted, because cold water can make the meat tough. Water must be poured so that it almost covers the meat, but not completely, otherwise the finished roast will turn out liquid.
STEP 10
Add a bay leaf to the stew. Set the multicooker to stewing mode. I set it to 1.5 hours. Your cooking time and mode may be different; be guided by the operating features of your equipment. After completing the program, you can leave the multicooker in the heating mode so that the meat is additionally cooked, so it will be even tastier. Bon appetit!
