  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook vegetables in a double boiler? Absolutely any vegetables are suitable for this recipe. I took a small head of cauliflower, young zucchini, fresh carrots and green peas. You can also use frozen ones, do not defrost them first. Rinse all vegetables and root vegetables thoroughly under running water, rub especially dirty ones with a brush to wash off all the dirt. Clean the root vegetables.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Different vegetables are steamed at different times. I have a steamer with three trays, I placed the vegetables on them according to the cooking time. Cauliflower takes 20-25 minutes to cook, place it in the first tray. First, disassemble the cabbage into inflorescences.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place chopped zucchini and carrots in the next tray; their cooking time is 15-20 minutes. Cut the vegetables into approximately equal pieces so they cook evenly.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add green peas last. I took fresh ones, in pods. It must be cleaned first. Pour frozen straight from the bag. Its preparation time is about 10 minutes.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour water into the steamer according to the instructions. Choose good, tasty water, from a bottle or filtered. Even if you don't cook in it, but steam it, quality matters. Install pallets. Place the vegetables that take longer to cook at the bottom. If you only have one tray, place the vegetables in it in layers, also depending on the cooking time.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Set the timer to the maximum cooking time. Start the steamer. I set it for 20 minutes. After 7-10 minutes, remove the top tray - the peas should be ready. Just in case, try it - mine took a little longer, it was hard. Prepare the remaining vegetables. Mine took the same amount of time to prepare - 25 minutes. The carrot remained hard in 15 minutes - I cut it too large.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

If you have one tray in the steamer, you can simply remove those vegetables that are already ready. This is why it is convenient to lay them in layers. Remove the prepared vegetables to a plate. They are bright, beautiful, not overcooked. But fresh. If desired, salt the vegetables or add sauce to them.

I steamed vegetables in a double boiler using this recipe. I immediately poured salted water into the steamer, so the vegetables turned out not bland, but slightly salty (by the way, I also learned this trick here on the website in one of the recipes). I set the steamer for 25 minutes, this time was enough for cabbage, carrots and peas. But it’s a bit too much for zucchini; for my taste, it takes about 15 minutes to remain a little firm. I poured vegetable oil over the prepared vegetables and ate two servings at once. I liked it very much!
