  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to steam pollock? Prepare your food. Pollock is usually sold frozen; defrost it according to all defrosting rules. Read how to do this at the end of the recipe. Choose spices to taste, I limited myself to just ground black pepper. Instead of olive oil, you can use regular vegetable oil.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

My pollock is already gutted and without a head. If you have a fish with a head, then cut it off. Also remove the fins from the back and sides. It is very convenient to do this with scissors. Cut the belly of the fish, remove the entrails and be sure to remove the black film, it is very bitter. Cut off the tail. Rinse the prepared carcasses on all sides, including the inside. And then dry well with paper towels.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place pollock carcasses in a bowl. Salt the fish, add your favorite spices and seasonings. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Pour some oil over it, I used olive oil to make it even healthier. Using your hands, rub all the ingredients into the fish, coating it on all sides.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Steamed pollock can be cooked both in an electric steamer (like mine) and in other devices - a multicooker, a microwave with this function, in a special attachment that is installed above the pan, and a regular colander will do. Place the fish in a steaming container.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place it in the appliance or over a saucepan. If you cook on gas, you can throw a couple of bay leaves into boiling water. In my steamer you can't put anything in the water. Steam pollock for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces. Since I have whole fish, I cooked for 15 minutes. Cook pollock pieces or fillets less.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Carefully remove the finished fish and serve hot with any suitable side dish or as a separate dish.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Serve steamed pollock with a slice of lemon, herbs and some sauce suitable for fish. Bon appetit!

Today I'm steaming pollock. I washed the fish, removed everything unnecessary (fins, black film from the abdomen). Added salt, fish seasonings, and lemon juice to the sunflower oil. Rub the fish well with this mixture. To prevent the spices and oil from dripping off the fish from the steam, I put the pollock in a baking bag (you can also wrap it in foil). I didn’t tie the bag tightly, I just laid it on the grill so that the juice didn’t leak out. Cooked in a slow cooker for 25 minutes. The fish turned out very tasty, juicy, tender, in its own juice. You can cook without a bag if you don’t want the fish to be in liquid, but then it’s better to let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes after you’ve rubbed it with spices and oil. An excellent dietary, low-calorie dish. I liked it very much! Thank you, katushafin!

The taste is not much different from simply boiled fish. I liked it as an experiment, but I still like baked fish better) Thanks for the recipe.
