  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to steam cod? Prepare your food. If possible, take fresh, chilled cod. Such fish contains much more useful substances than frozen fish. This can be either cod fillet or steak. If you only have frozen fish, be sure to defrost it properly. Immediately after freezing, place the frozen fish in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours and only then completely defrost it at room temperature.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

If necessary, defrost the fish, wash well and dry with paper towels. Cut into medium sized pieces. Cod holds its shape well and does not get overcooked, so you can use skinless cod fillets.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

You only need juice from the lemon. Therefore, it is quite possible to use ready-made lemon juice. If you squeeze the juice from a lemon yourself, then first wash it with very hot water, or even scald it with boiling water - this will release much more juice. I also recommend using a small sieve so that the lemon seeds do not get into the fish.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Prepare a slow cooker or steamer. Place the fish pieces in a steaming container.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Salt it a little. You can add any other favorite herbs or seasonings if you wish. Provencal herbs, thyme or rosemary are perfect here. But for some, regular ground pepper will be enough.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour water into the bowl of a multicooker or steamer. You can add bay leaves or allspice peas to it for flavor. And in the summer, fresh dill or basil will do. Whatever you add to the water will ultimately add its own flavor to the finished dish.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place the container with fish on a bowl of water. Set the multicooker to “Steam cooking” and set the time to 15 minutes. It will be enough for the fish to fully cook.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Serve cod with fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables. Bon appetit!

Dietary, good option for the dish. There is another good way - baking cod in sour cream.
