  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

To prepare the Squirrel salad, we will prepare the following ingredients: carrots, processed cheese, eggs, butter, garlic, mayonnaise, salt, dill and walnuts.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Cook carrots for 25 minutes. We check the readiness of the carrots with a fork: if it is easily pierced, then it is ready.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Grate the boiled carrots on a fine grater.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Grate the butter. Butter and cream cheese will grate better if you first chill them in the freezer for 5 minutes.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Grate the melted cheese on a fine grater.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Grate the garlic on a fine grater or squeeze it out.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Boil and grate chicken eggs. We reserve the white of one egg to decorate the salad.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

For decoration, leave half a walnut and a small piece of walnut (for the squirrel's nose). Finely crush the remaining nuts using a rolling pin or blender, but not into dust.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Grate the remaining egg white, leaving a little white for the squirrel's eye.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Combine melted cheese, eggs, butter, garlic, mayonnaise and salt.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Let's proceed to the most important stage of salad design, namely the formation of the squirrel. To do this, lay out the silhouette of a squirrel from the resulting mass.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Sprinkle the squirrel with walnuts on top.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Place a layer of grated carrots on top of the nuts. We put a walnut mat into the squirrel's paw and form a nose from a piece of the walnut. Sprinkle the ears, tip of the tail and belly with grated egg white. We form the eye from a small piece of egg. To decorate the dish we use dill.

Today I made Belochka salad with melted cheese. The products are simple and affordable. I was a little surprised by the addition of butter to the traditional set (cheese, eggs, mayonnaise, garlic), but I didn’t deviate from the recipe. I was even more surprised by how much the taste changed thanks to a small piece of butter!!! I liked this combination so much that I will definitely add this addition to similar recipes! To make it easier to form the squirrel figure, I drew the outline with mayonnaise using a pastry bag. The salad is wonderful, I’m happy to add it to my collection of recipes. Thank you, Alinka!

What a cute little squirrel, it would be great to have a mold like that. But boiled carrots lose a lot; if you grated them fresh, it would be a real “Health” salad. Although I don’t know how this will affect the taste of the dish for which you presented the recipe. You'll have to try it yourself.
