STEP 1
How to prepare spicy cabbage for the winter with beets? Prepare the necessary ingredients.
STEP 2
Rinse the white cabbage under water, remove the top damaged leaves that are stained or damaged. Cut the fork in half so that in each part there remains part of the stalk on which the cabbage leaves are held. Carefully cut the stalk from both halves with a fork so that the cabbage does not crumble in your hands. Cut the cabbage across the veins into strips 2-2.5 centimeters wide, and then cut the resulting strips into squares.
STEP 3
Rinse the carrots under water, peel and cut into slices. Rinse the beets thoroughly with a kitchen brush under running water, peel them and cut them into small thin slices. Peel the garlic and cut into slices.
STEP 4
Place the prepared vegetables in a large saucepan so that the layers of cabbage alternate with carrots, beets and garlic.
STEP 5
To prepare the brine, pour water into the pan, add sugar, salt, bay leaf, and black peppercorns. Mix everything and put the pan on the fire. Bring the brine to a boil, turn off the heat, pour in the vinegar and stir again.
STEP 6
Pour the slightly cooled brine over the vegetables placed in the pan. Place a plate on top and a small jar of water on it. Leave the cabbage under pressure for 2-3 days, then put it in sterilized jars and roll them up. Many housewives prepare this snack in large quantities and put it in 3-liter jars. However, if the family is small, it is better to use small jars. This product must be stored in a cool place. Bon appetit!
