Shokobon buns
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
For the dough, mix warm milk and yeast. Leave until the yeast is completely dissolved.
STEP 2
In another bowl, combine eggs with sugar.
STEP 3
Mix milk and eggs.
STEP 4
Sift the flour, add the egg-milk mixture and knead.
STEP 5
Melt the butter, cool it slightly and add to the dough. Mix the butter well into the dough.
STEP 6
Knead the dough well on the table.
STEP 7
Cover the dough with a damp towel and leave in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
STEP 8
For the filling, mix cinnamon and sugar.
STEP 9
Chop chocolate and nuts.
STEP 10
Roll out the dough into a layer of about 5 mm, grease with soft butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
STEP 11
Spread the chocolate and nuts over the dough in an even layer.
STEP 12
Wrap all this happiness in a tight roll.
STEP 13
Cut the roll into portions of equal height and place them side by side in a mold with sides. Give the buns time to rise (at least 10 minutes) and bake (180 degrees and 25 minutes is enough).
STEP 14
If desired, spread the finished hot cross buns with mascarpone cheese or homemade cream cheese. If you do not grease the buns with cheese, brush them with an egg beaten with milk before baking. This way they will be glossy and very beautiful.
STEP 15
Let the buns cool quite a bit, and then go ahead and don’t yawn, especially if the family is happy (and therefore large).
