Red rice pilaf

An extremely useful option! Hurry here! This recipe for red pilaf is far from the traditional understanding of this dish. It is not prepared using exactly the same technology, and the taste is different. But it's definitely worth a try.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make red pilaf? Prepare all the ingredients first. Wash the carrots and onions and peel them. Clean and rinse the meat, dry it.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

And this is our main character - red rice, as you can see, he is very cute. Sort the rice if necessary.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Prepare all the spices at once. These are my traditional ones for pilaf: paprika, saffron, barberry, cumin, a mixture of peppers. Choose your favorites, the composition can be changed to suit your taste.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cut the onion into quarter rings.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Cut the peeled carrots into strips.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cut the chicken fillet into cubes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Pour some vegetable oil into the cauldron.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place the onion in the cauldron, then the carrots, fry for 10 minutes, stirring.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Then add the chicken fillet and fry for another 10 minutes. For this pilaf, I specifically chose chicken fillet - this way the pilaf will turn out to be more dietary. You can use any other meat.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

While the vegetables and meat are fried, rinse the red rice under running water.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

After 10 minutes, add spices and salt to the cauldron, mix everything.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place red rice in a cauldron on top of the roast.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Pour in water - the ratio of rice to water is the same as for traditional white rice 1:2. Cook from boiling over very low heat. The packaging states that the rice will take 35-45 minutes to cook. For some reason it took longer for me to cook - about an hour. Check to see if the rice is ready.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

After the specified time, our red pilaf is ready!

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

    Bon appetit!

Nastya, interesting pilaf! I haven’t found this rice on sale here yet, although I’ve seen it before. Did you have any difficulties purchasing it? I see it behaves differently than the white one, does it get soggy during the cooking process? Or it seemed to me?

nasstin, what an interesting pilaf you have this time! With red rice! Apparently the Indian version. It looks very appetizing, the only pity is that the rice takes a long time to boil, maybe soak it the old fashioned way overnight? Thanks for the recipe!
