Puff pastry rolls with cheese and sausage
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make puff rolls with cheese and sausage? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can use absolutely any sausage to suit your taste; boiled, half-smoked or smoked is good. The choice of sausages will change the taste of the finished rolls. Remove the puff pastry from the freezer to defrost slightly.
STEP 2
Peel the onion and rinse in clean water, wash and dry the tomato. Cut the onion and tomato as finely as possible, into cubes or cubes.
STEP 3
Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the pan (you can use butter) and heat it. Fry the onion in hot oil until golden brown.
STEP 4
Add tomato, garlic powder, a pinch of dry basil and salt to the onion. If the tomato is store-bought and most likely tasteless out of season, then you can add a pinch of sugar to all the ingredients. Over high heat, stirring continuously, cook the vegetables until the excess liquid from the tomato has evaporated.
STEP 5
The consistency of the sauce should be approximately the same as in the photo. Remove the pan from the heat and cool its contents. Turn on the oven at 180-200 degrees.
STEP 6
Peel the sausage and grate on a coarse grater.
STEP 7
Place a sheet of puff pastry on the table.
STEP 8
Spread the tomato and onion sauce evenly over the surface of the dough. This can be done using a tablespoon or a silicone brush.
STEP 9
Place the sausage evenly in the next layer.
STEP 10
Next comes the turn of cheese. I used store-bought grated cheese; if you have cheese in one piece, then you need to grate it on a coarse grater, just like sausage.
STEP 11
Roll the filled sheet of dough into a roll, as in the photo.
STEP 12
Cut the roll with a sharp knife into pieces no more than two centimeters thick.
STEP 13
Beat the egg into a bowl and whisk with a whisk or fork until smooth.
STEP 14
Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can choose the right parchment paper by reading a separate article about the features of parchment, the link is at the end of the recipe.
STEP 15
Brush each roll with egg wash using a silicone brush.
STEP 16
Sprinkle the tops of the rolls with sesame seeds. Place the rolls in a preheated oven and bake at 180-200 degrees on the “top-bottom” setting until cooked. Cooking time and mode may vary depending on the characteristics of your oven. You should focus on the appearance of rosy sides and a delicious crispy crust on top.
