    Wash and peel the potatoes well. If you have large tubers, cut them into small pieces. Pour cold water over the potatoes and cook over low heat. Use good water, filtered or bottled; the taste of mashed potatoes depends on its taste. Boil the potatoes for 25 minutes, add salt at the end.

    While the potatoes are cooking, fry the minced meat. Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.

    Heat a frying pan, pour vegetable oil onto it. Place the onion in the pan. Fry the onion, stirring it, for about 5 minutes, until translucent.

I was looking through recipes and saw this one. Recipe from my childhood. Dad cooked a thick potato casserole with minced meat and cheese in the oven. True, for some reason we called it chef’s pie. I also saw a similar recipe from English cooks; they called this dish shepherd's pie. This is what I mean 🙂 Everyone loves meat and potatoes 😄 I generously flavored my casserole with spring greens: I added parsley to the puree and green onions to the minced meat. I had a small piece of cheese, so first I spread sour cream on top of the casserole, and then sprinkled it with grated cheese. It turned out to be a stunning casserole, so tender and tasty. This dish is understandable and so familiar that absolutely everyone will like it. Highly recommend!

Wonderful recipe. I wanted to find something for a more varied diet for my son. He really liked it, it was just finger licking good. I love cooking in the oven, set it and forget it for half an hour.

I make this casserole a little differently: I boil the meat, then put it through a meat grinder and fry it in a frying pan with onions, then it turns out not so greasy.
