  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make potato casserole in a slow cooker with cheese? Prepare your food. Take potatoes with a low starch content - they do not fall apart during heat treatment. In addition to onions, you can add mushrooms, minced meat or any other vegetables to the casserole.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the potatoes well under running water with a brush, then peel. Slice the tubers into very thin slices. You can use a special shredder or, if you don’t have one, a regular grater - it has a hole for the shredder.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the chopped potatoes in a bowl and cover with clean, cold water. Leave it to stand in the water for 10 minutes - during this time, excess starch will be washed out of the potatoes and they will not fall apart when baked.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Then place the potato wedges on a paper towel to dry.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Cut the onion into thin half rings.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Turn on the multicooker mode suitable for frying, put butter in the bowl. When it melts, add the onion. Fry it, stirring, until golden brown, about 10 minutes. Then remove the onion from the bowl. If you are preparing a casserole with minced meat, mushrooms or vegetables, fry them together with the onions until half cooked.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Prepare the filling. Beat eggs into a bowl, pour in milk. Lightly beat them with a fork. Salt and pepper the milk mixture and stir. You can also add any spices to your taste. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Pour half the cheese into the filling and stir.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

All that remains is to assemble the casserole. Place most of the potatoes on the bottom. Lay it carefully in layers. Add a little salt. Add fried onions. Fill everything with filling.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the remaining potatoes on top, salt them and sprinkle with the other half of the cheese. Close the multicooker lid and set the program suitable for baking. For me it’s “Baking,” but for you it may be called differently. Set the time to 1 hour.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

After the signal, open the lid and check readiness - pierce the potatoes, they should become soft. If the potatoes are not ready yet, continue baking. Cool the finished casserole slightly and carefully remove it using a plate.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Serve the casserole to the table. Bon appetit!

I made a potato casserole in a slow cooker for breakfast. It wasn’t difficult to make. My potatoes were young, so I didn’t peel them, I just washed them thoroughly. I shredded the potatoes on a grater. I didn’t add onions because my daughter doesn’t really like them in casseroles. To make the breakfast more filling, I added raw smoked bacon between the layers of potatoes. The casserole was prepared for an hour on the “Baking” mode. The casserole turned out very juicy. Cheese goes well with potatoes. It turned out very tasty. Thank you very much for the recipe, katushafin!

Can it be in the oven? Won't it ruin the casserole?
