STEP 1
How to make pearl barley porridge with meat? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. You can use any type of meat for cooking. It could be veal, chicken or, like mine, pork.
STEP 2
Rinse pearl barley several times in cold water. Then fill with clean water and leave for several hours or better yet, stand overnight. Before starting cooking, rinse the cereal again and place it in boiling water. Cook over low heat for about an hour until the pearl barley becomes soft. Salt it a little.
STEP 3
Cut the meat into small pieces. Heat a frying pan until hot and pour vegetable oil into it. Place the prepared meat and fry it for 5-7 minutes until it begins to brown.
STEP 4
While the meat is roasting, prepare the vegetables. Peel the onions and carrots and rinse them to remove dirt. Chop the onion and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
STEP 5
Place chopped onions and carrots in a frying pan with the meat. Stir. Continue frying everything together for another 2-3 minutes. Pour hot water over the meat and simmer over low heat for 30-40 minutes until the meat is soft. You can add bay leaf or celery root for flavor. Add salt and spices to taste. For spices I use ground pepper and a little paprika.
STEP 6
While cooking the meat, the pearl barley had time to cook. Place it in a colander and let the water drain.
STEP 7
Transfer the finished cereal in the pan to the meat and mix everything. Warm up a couple of minutes and remove the pan from the heat.
STEP 8
Pearl barley porridge with meat is ready! Place it on plates and serve hot. Bon appetit!
