Oven baked fish with cheese
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake fish in the oven with cheese? Prepare your food. I will bake mackerel, but you can use fillets of any fish - cod, hake, tilapia, pink salmon. If the fish was frozen, defrost it first. Any cheese is suitable for this dish - hard, semi-hard, soft, such as mozzarella. The main thing is that it is tasty, of high quality, without milk fat substitutes and melts well.
STEP 2
Gut the fish - cut the belly and remove the insides along with the black film, it can be bitter. Wash the carcass well on all sides, then dry with paper towels. Cut off the head and tail. Cut the fillet - to do this, cut the carcass along the ridge to the spine. Turn over onto its side. Using a sharp knife, cut the meat from the spinal bone. Turn the carcass over and cut off the fillet on the other side.
STEP 3
Cut off the fins and remove large bones.
STEP 4
Take a baking dish and grease it with olive oil. Place the prepared fillet into the pan. Season with salt, pepper and any spices for fish. Sprinkle the fillets with lemon juice.
STEP 5
Peel the onion and cut it into thick rings. I used purple onions, but regular onions will do.
STEP 6
Also cut the olives into rings - each olive into 2-3 parts. That is why it is better to take pitted olives. If you have a seed, then crush it with the bottom of a glass, remove the seed, and cut the fruit itself into several parts.
STEP 7
Place onion rings on top of the fish and arrange the chopped olives.
STEP 8
Take a tomato. Remove the skin from it. How to easily peel tomatoes? Wash them and make cross cuts on top with a sharp knife. Place in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. Remove, cool slightly and remove the skin. It will be very easy to do this due to a sharp temperature change.
STEP 9
Cut the tomato into small cubes.
STEP 10
Place it on the fish.
STEP 11
Preheat the oven to 180°C, place the dish with fish in it for 15 minutes.
STEP 12
While the mackerel is baking, grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
STEP 13
After 15 minutes, remove the fish and sprinkle it with cheese.
STEP 14
Return the pan to the oven for another 5-7 minutes. The cheese should melt and lightly brown. Remove the fish, cool slightly and serve.
STEP 15
When serving, add fresh herbs and lemon slices to the dish. Bon appetit!
