New Year's breakfast with pine cones

Surprise the kids during the Christmas holidays with an unusual breakfast! This is a good version of a classic European breakfast, simply served in a very interesting format. You can supplement this breakfast with fresh vegetables, toast, juice or a cup of coffee. For a more filling option, you can add potatoes.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Prepare all ingredients. Take good quality sausages, a C1 or C0 egg, fresh dill, salt, butter and vegetable oil for frying. Instead of sausages, you can take small-sized sausages, larger in diameter, suitable in shape for creating cones. Long, thin Vienna sausages are not suitable for this recipe.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Take the sausages and, using a sharp knife, make deep, diagonal cuts, first in one direction and then in the other. You should get a pattern in the form of small diamond squares. At the same time, under no circumstances should the cuts be made completely, otherwise the scales of the cones will simply have nothing to hold on to.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan, add the prepared sausages and fry them on all sides over medium heat until golden brown. During cooking, the scales will open and form cones. Vegetable oil can be replaced with butter, but then it is better to use ghee; it is better suited for frying. Or you can fry the sausages in a mixture of vegetable and butter, then the oil will not burn during frying.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place a piece of butter in a clean frying pan, melt it, place a pastry ring (diameter 7.6 cm), greased with vegetable oil, in the center and crack a chicken egg inside the ring. Fry the fried egg at a slightly higher than medium temperature until the egg whites are set. At the end of cooking, add salt to the fried egg. Do not add salt to the fried egg in advance, because then white spots may appear on the yolk and the white will become tougher.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Carefully remove the pastry ring and transfer the prepared fried egg onto a plate using a spatula. Prepare the second fried egg in the same way and also place it on a plate. Place sausage cones nearby and garnish the dish with fresh dill. Serve New Year's breakfast with bread and a cup of delicious cappuccino.
