  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make millet with pumpkin? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Porridge can be prepared with either water or milk - choose the liquid to your taste. Grind the pumpkin in any way convenient for you - on a grater, through a meat grinder, with a blender, or simply cut into small pieces.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the millet thoroughly several times with cold and several times with hot water. The taste of the prepared dish directly depends on this stage, since poorly washed boiled millet is very bitter. Rinse the millet until the water in the container runs clear. If desired, you can soak the millet for several hours or overnight if you plan to cook the porridge in the morning.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour the washed cereal into a saucepan or cauldron. Choose a pan with a thick bottom, as it will better accumulate heat and the cereal will heat up evenly. An article about saucepans will help you choose the ideal pan, link at the end of the recipe.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add salt, sugar, other spices or sweets to taste. You can use vanilla sugar and flavorings.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour in hot water. You may need more or less water depending on the size of the pan. Be guided by the fact that the water level should be 1-1.5 cm higher than the millet. Place the container with the cereal on the stove, bring to a boil, remove the foam. Reduce heat and simmer the millet for about 15 minutes, covered, over medium heat. If necessary, add a little more water.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Peel and rinse the pumpkin, grate it on a fine grater into a container.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add the pumpkin mixture to the pan or cauldron with millet and mix gently. Boil for 5-10 minutes on low heat.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Let the prepared millet porridge with pumpkin “stand” under the lid for about 5 minutes with the heat turned off. You can add butter if you don't plan to place it directly on the plates.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the prepared dish into serving bowls.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Season with ghee or heavy butter, honey or other sweet sauces, if desired. If you boil porridge with pumpkin without sugar, then serve it with cheese.

For breakfast I prepared millet with pumpkin. I always pour boiling water over the washed millet, then rinse it again with cold water so that it does not taste bitter. If time permits, I soak any cereal for several hours to obtain a boiled porridge. I finely chop the pumpkin. I had more pumpkin, so I reduced the amount of sugar. This time I cooked the millet in water and added butter when serving. Very tasty, healthy breakfast! Thank you, prika.

For breakfast I cooked millet with pumpkin, because it is a tasty and nutritious dish. I washed the millet well and poured boiling water over it a couple of times. This removes the bitterness from the cereal. I didn’t add any sugar, the sweetness of the pumpkin was enough for us. I salted the millet, poured it with a mixture of water and milk (3/1) and set it to cook. As soon as the cereal began to appear above the liquid, I added the grated pumpkin. I used more pumpkin to make its taste more pronounced. During cooking, I added half a glass of hot water. And then she put a piece of butter, covered the pan with a lid and left it to steam on the turned off stove. The porridge turned out simply amazing! Delicate, aromatic, creamy, bright! The pumpkin almost dissolved, my daughter was very happy about it).

I saw this recipe and decided to make millet with pumpkin. The result was a tasty and bright porridge. This option is especially useful for those who are already tired of the taste of millet cured in milk - the taste is completely different)) And this porridge is prepared quite quickly! And if you cook the porridge with meat broth, the taste will be simply amazing! Thank you very much for the recipe!
