Mashed potatoes with fried onions and butter

STEP 1

How to make mashed potatoes with fried onions? Prepare everything you need for this. You can take milk of any fat content. If you want a creamier taste, you can even use cream.
STEP 2

Peel the potatoes and rinse thoroughly to remove dirt. Cut large tubers into 2-3 parts. Small ones can be left without cutting. Place the prepared potatoes in a cooking pot and fill with water so that they are all submerged. Place on the fire and bring to a boil. Add salt. Then turn the heat down a little and cook the potatoes until tender. This will take 15-20 minutes. Pierce the potatoes with a knife. If the potatoes are soft, then they are ready.
STEP 3

While the potatoes are cooking, prepare the onions. Peel the onion, rinse and finely chop. Heat a frying pan until hot and pour in a little vegetable oil. Add the prepared chopped onion and fry it, stirring, until golden brown, for 3-5 minutes.
STEP 4

When the potatoes are cooked, drain the hot water. Add the fried onions and butter to the pan. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher.
STEP 5

Heat the milk until hot and pour into the potatoes. Continue mashing the potatoes with a masher until smooth. Gradually the potatoes will absorb the milk. If you like your mashed potatoes thinner, you can add more milk. The consistency is based on your taste.
STEP 6

Delicious and aromatic mashed potatoes with fried onions are ready! It will be an excellent side dish for any meat or fish dish. If desired, you can sprinkle a little chopped dill or any other herbs. Divide the mashed potatoes into prepared bowls and serve! Bon appetit!
