Mackerel with rice in the oven
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake mackerel with rice in the oven? Prepare your food. Take large carrots and onions. Steamed rice is suitable - it will turn out crumbly in the finished dish. When choosing mackerel, make sure that the fish are undamaged and there is not too much ice. If the fish is large, take 2 for this amount of food. Refer to the weight indicated in the recipe. Any unscented oil will do.
STEP 2
Peel and rinse the onions and carrots. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Cut the onion into small cubes. In this form, the vegetables will fry faster and give the rice a beautiful color.
STEP 3
To fry, take a frying pan large enough to hold the vegetables and rice. Heat a frying pan, carefully pour vegetable oil onto it so as not to burn yourself. Since carrots take longer to cook than onions, fry the grated carrots first. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 2 minutes.
STEP 4
When the carrots begin to soften, add the chopped onion to the pan and fry for another 3 minutes over medium heat. Be sure to stir so that the vegetables cook evenly and do not dry out.
STEP 5
Rinse the rice in several (5-7) waters to thoroughly remove the starch. This will make it more crumbly. Drain the rice.
STEP 6
Add the washed rice to the vegetables and stir until smooth.
STEP 7
Add a little salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, for another 3 minutes. Frying the rice will further make it fluffy.
STEP 8
For baking, use a heat-resistant dish with high sides. I have a glass one 30*20 cm. Place fried vegetables and rice into it.
STEP 9
Pour in water and stir a little so that the water is distributed evenly throughout the dish and the rice does not burn during baking.
STEP 10
Prepare the mackerel. You don’t have to defrost it in advance, but take it out of the freezer before starting cooking - this will make it easier to cut the fish. Remove the entrails, then rinse well under running water and cut into 4-5 portions.
STEP 11
Lightly salt the mackerel and season with spices and sour cream. If you are using a pre-made spice mixture that contains salt, reduce the amount of salt you add. Otherwise, you can over-salt and spoil the taste of the dish.
STEP 12
Turn on the oven to preheat to 200 degrees. Place the fish pieces on top of the rice and water.
STEP 13
Cover the baking dish with foil and place on the middle rack in the oven. After 1 hour, the mackerel and rice will be ready. Cooking times may vary depending on the capabilities of your oven. Carefully remove the foil so as not to burn yourself. If there is no water, you can serve it. Bon appetit!
