    In a medium saucepan, cook the broth, although you can cook this borscht simply with water. Then remove the bones or meat and strain the broth. In a mug of water (about half a glass of water), stir the flour so that there are no lumps, add sour cream and stir. Add sugar. Pour it all into the broth, bring to a boil, add caraway seeds and bay leaves.

    Separately, cook the beets, grate them on a coarse grater, sprinkle with vinegar or lemon juice.

    At the very end, add the beets to the pan and you can also add chopped greens. Bring to a boil, but do not boil too much, otherwise the color of the borscht will change. Pour into mugs and drink. But there is another way (my favorite) to eat this borscht, that’s what my parents do. Boil the potatoes separately, or if you have some potatoes left over from lunch from yesterday, you can cut them into pieces, or you can mash them. Pour hot borscht into a plate and add potatoes there, you can even eat them cold

Yulenka, I’m very glad that you liked the recipe. I once tried this borscht in a restaurant in Lviv. It was very tasty. Then I found a recipe on some website. and decided why not cook it at home. I always serve it with potato pies or pancakes with minced meat. It turns out very tasty. Although the soup itself is delicious.

Yes the color is really beautiful. The main thing is not to overcook the beets, otherwise the color will disappear. Although I haven't had this before. I also add salt, and different spices to taste
