Step-by-step preparation

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook lentil cutlets? Rinse the lentils, let them drain, cover with water at room temperature for at least 10 hours; there should be enough water so that the beans are completely covered. The room in which the beans will be located must be warm. During this time, the lentils will increase significantly in volume.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the onion, rinse, finely chop and fry in a frying pan with a small amount of vegetable oil until golden brown, let cool and add to the lentils, stir.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Grind the lentils and onions using a meat grinder or blender, I crushed them using a blender in two stages, if the mass turns out too steep, add a little boiled water at room temperature.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add semolina to the minced meat, add salt and mix.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Form the cutlets (by the way, they hold their shape very well), pour vegetable oil into the frying pan (it is better to use a non-stick frying pan), heat it up, fry the cutlets for five minutes on one side, turn over and cover with a lid, fry under the lid for five minutes on the other side . Lenten lentil cutlets are ready, bon appetit!

I had some lentils left (about 220 grams). I decided to make lean lentil cutlets from it according to this recipe. I soaked the lentils for about 7 hours. I made the minced meat for the cutlets in a food processor. I added suneli hops and cilantro on my own. Minced lentils turn out excellent. It is very easy to make cutlets from it. They don't fall apart when fried. I fried the cutlets for five minutes on each side, as the author advises. I really liked these cutlets. In appearance they do not differ from regular meat ones. The cutlets turned out dense, held their shape perfectly and did not crumble. Their taste is very interesting: it looks like lentils, but it also looks a bit like meat. Thank you very much for the recipe!

The cutlets are really very tasty and filling. And the sauce wouldn't hurt. If you are not on a diet or fasting, you can simply try it with sour cream.

The recipe is great! When baking, I recommend rolling them in flour, otherwise the cutlets will burn and fall apart. Very tasty with sour cream!

I would bake it in the oven, it will be juicier and healthier. You can bake it with sour cream sauce at the same time.
