How to cook frozen king prawns
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to cook frozen unpeeled king prawns in a saucepan? Prepare all ingredients. The most common shrimp is cooked and frozen, although you can also find frozen raw shrimp. They differ in color. If the shrimp are bright pink in color, it means they were cooked before being frozen. If the shrimp are gray-green in color, it means they were frozen without processing. The cooking time for the shrimp depends on this.
STEP 2
First, place a large pot of water on the stove and bring to a boil, the ratio of shrimp to water is at least 1:2. When the water boils, add salt - don’t be alarmed, we will need quite a lot of it - 1 liter of water requires 40-45 g of salt. If you have already peeled shrimp, the amount of salt should be halved. How to choose a pan, read the article below the steps.
STEP 3
Wash the lemon thoroughly, pour boiling water over it, this will give it better juice. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon directly into the pan, then cut it into 4 pieces and place in the pan.
STEP 4
Add bay leaf. For my taste, it goes perfectly with the taste of shrimp.
STEP 5
Add other dry spices to taste - cloves, allspice and black peppercorns, they will be very useful here.
STEP 6
Add washed sprigs of parsley or dill; you can use both dry parsley and dill, and herbs, although the aroma of dried and fresh herbs is somewhat different. The set of spices is quite arbitrary, you can use the ones I suggested, or you can add, for example, garlic, onions, a special set of spices for seafood, or other spices to your taste.
STEP 7
Bring the water to a boil again, and while the water is boiling, get rid of the ice shell. Very often the shrimp are sent directly into the pan with it, but this is a common mistake. The fastest way is to simply rinse them under running warm water - this will get rid of excess dirt, broken antennae and legs, as well as ice. After this, place the prepared shrimp in the pan.
STEP 8
Boil the king prawns from the boil for about 5 minutes, if your prawns are quite large, you will need 7 minutes. Freshly frozen shrimp with a gray-green tint need to be cooked for 8-10 minutes, and if your shrimp are already peeled, only 2-3 minutes will be enough.
STEP 9
Pour lemon juice over the finished aromatic shrimp or mix lemon juice with olive oil and dip peeled shrimp in it; a sauce made from low-fat sour cream with garlic and herbs, or a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise is also perfect.
