How to cook crumbly bulgur in a saucepan? Prepare the necessary products: you will need the bulgur grain itself, water, a little vegetable oil and salt to taste.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour vegetable oil into the bottom of a thick-bottomed pan of suitable size and heat it.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place bulgur in heated oil. Decide for yourself whether to rinse the cereal or not. Some sources recommend rinsing it, but many articles skip this step. It would probably be best to wash the bulgur and then dry it, returning it to its crispness, and only then put it in hot oil.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Stirring, fry it until slightly dry and has a slight nutty aroma.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour boiling water over the fried bulgur, just do it gradually. You should not immediately, at once, pour in the entire volume of water, because... strong seething will begin. Pour in a little water, wait until it disperses along the bottom and gradually, in parts, pour in the rest. Add salt to taste.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan and cook for about 20-30 minutes. The finished bulgur should absorb all the water, increase noticeably in volume, and retain its crispness.

I cook bulgur, but not often, which is in vain. It is healthy, tasty, and an excellent side dish. By the way, if you cook bulgur together with chicken, you get a two-in-one dish - the side dish and meat are cooked immediately, which saves effort and time.

Bulgur always turns out crumbly, not dry, it is easy and simple to prepare, but today I made especially tasty bulgur using this recipe. I fried the bulgur in vegetable oil and added 1 tsp of salt. I cooked it for only 10 minutes, on the lowest heat with the lid tightly closed, during which time all the water was absorbed into the bulgur. I prepared bulgur as a side dish for chicken lula kebab. Thanks for the recipe: How to cook crumbly bulgur as a side dish in a saucepan over water.

Water is absorbed into the porridge very quickly and boils away, so it is simply impossible to cook the porridge for 20-30 minutes (there is no water left). But the time it takes (about 5 minutes) is enough for it to cook
