Horns with meat in a frying pan
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make horns with meat in a frying pan? Prepare your food. Take meat that does not need to be cooked for a long time (like beef) - pork tenderloin, chicken, turkey (I used turkey thigh). Instead of cones, any other pasta will do; you can safely replace it; this will only change the amount of water and cooking time. Choose pasta made from durum wheat, as it is less overcooked and tastier. Read more about choosing pasta at the end of the recipe.
STEP 2
Wash the meat and dry well with a paper towel. Cut it into small pieces.
STEP 3
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.
STEP 4
Grate the peeled carrots on a coarse grater.
STEP 5
Heat a frying pan over medium heat, pour half of the vegetable oil into it for frying. Read about how to choose a frying pan and oil in separate articles, links at the end of the recipe. Place onion in oil. Fry it, stirring, until translucent, a couple of minutes. Then add carrots to the onions. Fry the vegetables together for a few more minutes until soft.
STEP 6
Move the vegetables to the edge of the pan, and add the remaining oil to the empty space and place the meat. Turn up the heat and quickly fry the meat on all sides until the color changes - this will seal the juice inside and the meat will remain soft. When this happens, mix the meat with vegetables, add tomato paste, salt and pepper to taste. You can also add any spices you like.
STEP 7
Pour about a glass of hot water into the meat. Cover the pan with a lid and turn the heat to low. Simmer the meat for 10-20 minutes, depending on its type (smaller chicken, larger turkey and pork).
STEP 8
Then pour dry cones (or any other pasta of your choice) into the meat. Pour in a little more hot water. Calculate its quantity depending on the type of pasta and the volume of meat sauce. Mix the horns with the meat. My water only slightly reached the top of the dish.
STEP 9
Cover the pan with a lid and cook the dish until the water is completely absorbed. Taste the pasta; if it is not ready yet, add a little more water. I didn’t add more, the horns remained slightly al dente and held their shape well. Leave the dish to stand for another 10 minutes under the lid, then serve.
STEP 10
Bon appetit!
