    STEP 1

How to make frozen cabbage rolls in a pan with tomato paste? To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. For this recipe, you can use not only frozen cabbage rolls, but also fresh ones, store-bought or homemade. In addition to salt, you can use other spices to taste.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pre-defrost the cabbage rolls by removing them from the freezer 2-3 hours before cooking. The stuffing in the cabbage rolls can be any: from mixed minced pork and beef or with the addition of chicken.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel the carrots and grate them on a fine grater.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Finely chop the dill. If you don’t have fresh dill, you can replace it with dry dill or even replace it with other herbs to taste.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the cabbage rolls in a thick-bottomed pan. Sprinkle grated carrots and salt on top.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour in enough water to cover the cabbage rolls. Place the pan on the stove and simmer over low heat for 50 minutes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

While the cabbage rolls are cooking, prepare all the necessary ingredients for the gravy. The exact amount of water depends on the desired thickness of the gravy and the thickness of the tomato paste. You can replace tomato paste with ketchup or crushed tomatoes in their own juice.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Fry the flour over low heat in a dry frying pan until golden brown and a bright nutty aroma appears. At first, the flour does not change color for a long time, but then it can burn in just a minute. Therefore, it needs to be stirred all the time.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Add tomato paste and mix thoroughly.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Pour hot water and vegetable oil into the pan and mix thoroughly until smooth. Simmer over low heat until thickened. My gravy turned out to be quite thick, but runny.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Pour the tomato sauce into the pan with the cabbage rolls. Add chopped herbs. Cook everything together for another 5-10 minutes.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Serve cabbage rolls with sour cream and tomato sauce from the pan. Bon appetit!

I had three cabbage rolls left from last time that didn’t fit into the mold, so I froze them. And today I found them in the freezer). So I cooked frozen cabbage rolls in a pan with tomato paste for my son’s lunch. Freezing actually makes cooking a lot easier. Now all that’s left to do is fill the cabbage rolls with salted water and cover with carrots. I took dried dill. I simmered them for 40 minutes on low heat. For the sauce, I fried flour, added a little tomato, water and salt. I didn't use vegetable oil. I added a pinch of sugar to balance the acidity. I simmered it for another five minutes and immediately served it to the table. Maybe it was my imagination, but the cabbage in frozen cabbage rolls is much softer and more tender. The sauce has a pleasant taste of tomato and carrots and smells delicious! A very convenient option, I will now freeze cabbage rolls for future use. Thank you!
