Fried potatoes with cabbage in a frying pan
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make fried potatoes with cabbage in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. What is the best lard to use? You can take absolutely any one you like. In the recipe, I cooked from smoked boiled lard. Sausages can be completely excluded from the recipe, I decided to add them, since sausages add a special taste to the finished dish.
STEP 2
Peel the potatoes and wash thoroughly in clean water. Cut the lard into thin slices. Peel the onion and garlic and rinse along with the cabbage and herbs under running water.
STEP 3
Next, the lard can be cut into smaller pieces or left in plates. Cut the potatoes into long sticks of medium thickness.
STEP 4
Chop the onion into thin half rings, chop the cabbage into thin strips, and cut the hunting sausages into circles.
STEP 5
Place the lard in a dry frying pan and place on the stove at maximum heat. Fry the pieces, stirring continuously until the lard is rendered and browned. A separate article will help you with choosing the ideal frying pan using the link at the end of the recipe.
STEP 6
Next, if you don’t like fatty pieces in the finished dish, then remove the lard from the frying pan using a large spoon (it has already fulfilled its main function). I left the lard and cooked with them. Place the onion in the frying pan and, continuing to stir, fry for a few seconds at maximum heat (until a characteristic smell appears and the onion becomes slightly transparent).
STEP 7
Place the potatoes into the frying pan. Reduce heat to medium.
STEP 8
Fry, stirring occasionally, until the sides of the potatoes are golden brown. I cooked for the first 8-10 minutes with the lid closed, then removed the lid for about 2-5 minutes (almost until fully cooked). Add finely chopped garlic and spices to taste. This could be ground peppers, dry basil, and so on.
STEP 9
Lightly salt and add the cabbage and sausages to the potatoes. Why use just a little salt at first? Because the sausages themselves are salty, so the dish may end up being too salty. Mix everything well and cook under a closed lid over low heat for about 5-10 minutes.
STEP 10
At this stage, taste the dish for salt; if necessary, add salt to taste.
STEP 11
Sprinkle the potatoes and cabbage with finely chopped herbs.
STEP 12
The dish is ready, you can serve it!
