  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Let's prepare the ingredients according to the list. There are many variations of frying green tomatoes. They can be fried in batter, with garlic, sauce, or simply breaded. Since green tomatoes contain solanine, a substance that is not harmless to the human body, it is still better to use fruits that are not dark green, but those that have already become a little brown.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the tomatoes well and cut into slices no more than one centimeter thick. Since green tomatoes are quite dense, this is not difficult to do. Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat it.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour wheat flour into a plate. If you have time and desire, you can make a batter for frying tomatoes by whipping cream with egg and flour. But in this version, the snack will, of course, be much higher in calories. Roll each tomato slice in flour on both sides and place in oil heated in a frying pan.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pepper the tomatoes in a frying pan and add salt to taste. Fry the vegetables over medium heat for 5 minutes on one side, then turn them over and keep them on the fire for another couple of minutes until golden brown. Remove the tomatoes from the pan onto a plate with a paper napkin so that the excess oil is absorbed into the paper.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Transfer the tomatoes to a serving dish and serve with sauce, mayonnaise or sour cream. Bon appetit!

A minimal set of ingredients, but what an interesting and unusual dish it turned out to be! My husband asked me to make fried green tomatoes. I doubted that such a dish even existed, but after searching the vastness of my favorite website, I found this recipe. My green tomatoes turned out to be reddish inside, but that's even better. They are as hard as green ones, but safer than dark green ones. I salted the tomato slices directly on the cutting board, where they sat for a while and released juice. I drained the juice. And then, as in the recipe, I rolled the tomato slices in flour and fried them in oil. It was interesting to find out what would come out of this) Red tomatoes would probably fall apart during heat treatment. And the green ones fried perfectly, retaining their shape. A crispy golden crust has formed! It turned out to be very tasty. My husband quickly finished the plate of fried tomatoes; he didn’t even use sauces) I recommend everyone to try this autumn delicacy.
