  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make tortillas with onions? Prepare the necessary ingredients to make green onion cakes in a skillet. I used premium wheat flour, but first and second grade flour is also suitable for flatbreads.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

To prepare the dough, take a wide, stable container in which it will be convenient to knead the dough. Sift the flour into it through a fine sieve until the flour becomes airy. This will help make the dough more flexible. Leave some of the flour (20-25 grams) for kneading.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Make a well in the flour and add vegetable oil until the dough is elastic.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Heat the water until moderately hot, dissolve the salt in it. Pour hot water into the flour. Why hot? This will make the dough softer and more pliable.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Mix everything first with a spoon.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Then knead the dough with your hands. On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth. The dough should be moderately stiff and well kneaded. Wrap the dough in a towel or cling film and leave for 20-30 minutes. Why is this necessary? To allow the dough to proof. During this time, complete, uniform mixing of flour and water will occur. This will make the dough easier to handle when rolling as it will be more elastic.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

For the filling, wash the green onions under cold water and dry well. Finely chop the onion.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Lightly sprinkle the table with flour, roll out the dough into a round, not too thin layer.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place green onions on the rolled out dough, leaving a distance of 1.5-2 cm from the edges so that when rolling the roll, the filling does not go beyond the edges of the dough. You can lightly press the onion with your hand.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Roll the dough into a roll.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Cut the roll into pieces depending on the desired size of the tortillas.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Turn each piece of dough cut side up, press it with your hand, then roll it out with a rolling pin into a not very thin cake.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Heat a little vegetable oil in a frying pan. Fry the flatbread over moderate heat until golden brown on one side.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Then turn the flatbread over and fry the other side. While the next flatbread is being fried, you can roll out the next one.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Place the finished tortillas in a heap on a plate to keep them warm longer. You can serve the flatbreads cooled. Bon appetit!

I liked the recipe for flatbreads with green onions in a frying pan due to the simple set of ingredients included in its composition. But I replaced the green onions with what was in the refrigerator - a small amount of dill and parsley. The result is a very soft elastic dough. I really liked the shape of the flatbreads, I will do the same with other fillings. I made the cakes thinner and thicker, fried them in oil and without oil. All are good, but I liked the plump ones fried in oil better. A very good basic recipe - you can add more salt to the flatbreads, you can add cheese, carrots, fried onions, or whatever you like instead of herbs (you can do it without any filling at all, then they’ll go with jam). I liked the recipe, I will use it, thank you!
