  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook fish soup with millet at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. For fish soup, take the tail part of the fish (I used trout, but you can use any other fish to your taste).

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the fish in running water, dry with paper towels and cut into steaks. Peel the onion and rinse with water.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Take a pan, place in it fish steaks, a whole onion, allspice and black peppercorns and 1 tsp. salt. Pour in water. Take purified filtered water. Place the pan on the fire and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat, skimming off any foam, for about 30 minutes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Wash the potatoes in running water with a brush, peel, rinse and cut into medium cubes. Also wash the carrots in running water with a brush, rinse and grate on a coarse grater.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

After a while, remove the fish from the broth and strain the broth itself. This can be done through several layers of gauze or a clean towel. Return the broth to the heat and bring to a boil.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Sort the millet and rinse thoroughly.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add millet, potatoes and carrots to the boiling broth. Cook over low heat for 10-12 minutes until the potatoes are done. The time is approximate and will depend on the type of potato.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Return the fish to the soup. Add salt if necessary. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Remove the finished trout soup with millet and potatoes from the heat, cover with a lid and let steep for 10 minutes. Then you can pour into plates and serve. Bon appetit!

And I don’t add any millet or potatoes to my fish soup. Only fish, water and seasonings.

Ukha with millet is a delicious and easy-to-prepare soup. And it cooks quite quickly. I prepared the broth for the fish soup from salmon heads. Of course, there wasn’t much meat in it, but the broth was rich. There is no need to fry carrots and onions for soup, which reduces the time spent at the stove and the amount of dirty dishes. At the end of cooking, I added a mixture of ready-made fish spices to the fish soup. The soup turned out tasty and aromatic. Millet goes well with fish broth and makes the soup hearty. Thanks for the recipe!
