Ear from catfish head
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

How to cook fish soup from a catfish head at home? Prepare all the necessary products. It is best to take fish chilled; frozen products contain much less nutrients. If you have frozen fish, then you will learn all the details of defrosting by reading the article at the end of the recipe. In addition to the head, you can take other parts of the fish; the tail and fins are perfect.
STEP 2

Cut off the head of the fish. Be sure to remove the gills: if this is not done, the broth will turn out bitter. Then rinse the fish head and other parts if you are using them well.
STEP 3

Place the fish in a saucepan, fill with filtered water and bring to a boil over low heat. I recommend using filtered water rather than tap water, it can give the broth an unpleasant taste. Read how to choose a saucepan in a separate article at the end of the recipe.
STEP 4

Wash the potatoes in running water with a brush, peel and cut into medium cubes.
STEP 5

Cook the fish for about 15 minutes after boiling over low heat under the lid.
STEP 6

After the specified time, remove the fish from the broth and cool. If desired, at this stage of cooking you can add bay leaves, peppercorns or other favorite spices to the broth. Leave the soup to simmer on low heat.
STEP 7

Place the potatoes in the pan. Continue cooking, covered.
STEP 8

Wash the carrots in running water with a brush and peel them. Grate the root vegetable on a coarse grater. Peel the onion, rinse and cut into cubes.
STEP 9

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, add carrots and onions and fry for about 5-7 minutes until the onions are golden brown.
STEP 10

Add the resulting roast to the soup. Cover with a lid and continue cooking for about 10 minutes until the potatoes are fully cooked.
STEP 11

Separate the cooled fish from the bones, cut the flesh into small pieces and add to the pan with the soup. At the very end, add salt to taste.
STEP 12

The finished delicious fish soup from ready-made catfish can be immediately poured into plates and served. If desired, add finely chopped fresh dill to the plates.
