Danish herring salad
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
Remove bones from herring and cut into pieces.
STEP 2
Boil the potatoes in their jackets, cool, peel and cut into cubes.
STEP 3
Peel the onion, cut into cubes, scald with boiling water (to remove bitterness and strong odor) and rinse with cold water.
STEP 4
Boil the eggs. Clear. Separate the whites from the yolks. Set aside the yolks and chop the whites.
STEP 5
Peel and core apples. Cut into small cubes and sprinkle with 1 tbsp. lie lemon juice.
STEP 6
Let's make the gas station. Mash the yolks. Add cream or sour cream, mustard, black pepper, sugar and lemon juice. If the herring is freshly salted, add salt to the dressing.
STEP 7
Mix everything well.
STEP 8
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients for the salad, add the dressing and mix gently. Let it brew for 30 minutes and serve sprinkled with chopped dill.
