Crazy cake with chocolate icing

A very tasty pie made from ingredients that any housewife always has. Why Crazy? Because without eggs, milk and butter. It turns out tall, tender, moist. And moderately sweet. You can delight your family and friends with this cake during Lent (if you don’t cover it with glaze, but simply sprinkle powdered sugar on top) or... a week before payday.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Combine both mixtures and stir with a fork (I use a mixer) until smooth. Pour the dough into a mold greased with vegetable oil. I have a springform mold d26 cm. First we cover the bottom of this mold with baking paper, put on a ring, grease the bottom and sides of the mold, pour out the dough. Place in a preheated room at 180 degrees. oven for 30-40 minutes. Check for doneness with a skewer (it should be dry). If necessary, bake more until done.

    STEP 6

The pie is ready. Let it cool a little in the mold. And we prepare the glaze ourselves.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Rinse the prunes with boiling water and let the water drain. In a small saucepan, mix sour cream, sugar, cocoa (or hot chocolate powder). Add butter and place on low heat. Cook, stirring until smooth.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Cut the prunes into small pieces or thin strips, depending on the prunes and your desire. Place in glaze.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Stir and cook for another 3 minutes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Carefully remove the ring from the mold and transfer the pie to a plate.

    STEP 11

Cover the top of the pie with hot prune glaze. Let it cool completely.

  12. STEP 12

Very good recipe. But I made some adjustments to it, for me there is too much sunflower oil, and I added 0.5 cups. And also wine and apple cider vinegar, I rarely use in baking, so instead of vinegar and soda, 2 tsp of ordinary baking powder. The taste is really good, dense, but not for everyone, due to so much sunflower oil. (Especially if you overdo it or use different sunflower oils, it can give different flavors) It is especially suitable during Lent, if you also replace the glaze with lean one.

I think the pie is very tasty. Reminds me of Brownie in appearance. Can you please add more ingredients to the dough? Something doesn't show cocoa there

Thanks for the interesting and accessible recipe. It is a solution for those who are allergic to eggs. I know a couple of people like this; they often have to give up baking, but it’s so delicious!

Good afternoon The cake is really cool. Both in appearance and taste. There is no shame in presenting something like this, for example, to colleagues. There is only one thing, but. Strange taste and smell. Perhaps it's the vinegar that gives it. Perhaps the soda and vinegar should have been mixed separately, initiating the quenching process, rather than combining soda separately, vinegar separately, and then all together. The smell is a bit like the smell of a bathtub or sink after it has been cleaned with a chlorine-containing cleaner. However, this flaw is not very sensitive, the dough is really like a brownie, it has risen well and is quite tender. I also sprinkled some ground hazelnuts on top and it turned out nice.

Thank you so much, Marisha, for this recipe! I’ve already made it several times, but I still couldn’t find a minute to write a comment. For me, this pie has already become a traditional delicacy both for morning coffee and for evening tea with girlfriends. I often cook it for my colleagues for any reason or no reason. My boss recently tried it, and now he won’t let me into his office without the pie :) Fortunately, it’s very easy to prepare and always works out. The only thing I wanted to ask you is, have you tried baking it in a slow cooker?
