  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake cookies with fried onions? Prepare all the indicated products. The cookies turn out lean. If you haven’t made such cookies before, it’s better to take a small onion. If you like the cookies, you can experiment with the amount of fried onions in the composition. The soda will need to be quenched with vinegar.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the onion, rinse and cut into cubes. Pour vegetable oil into the frying pan (1 - 2 tablespoons in addition to the indicated volume) and fry the chopped onion over medium heat. Place the fried onions in a separate plate to cool. Turn on the oven to preheat at 200 degrees.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

In a deep bowl, mix sifted flour, salt, slaked soda with vinegar, oil and fried onion. Knead the dough. The dough is well collected into a ball with your hands, but the bottom will not be elastic, soft and pliable. Remember that you may need less or more flour, you can read more about this in the article, the link to it is at the end of the recipe.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Roll out the dough through a bag or through baking paper so that it does not stick to the rolling pin. In general, the dough does not roll out very well. It’s more convenient to do this in small portions. Use cutters to cut out small pieces. Place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 20 - 25 minutes. Your time and temperature may vary. Read more in the article about ovens. The link is at the end of the recipe.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Let the finished salted liver with onions cool. It tastes like a cracker. Goes great with beer.

I love onion-flavored chips and crackers, so this Fried Onion Cookies recipe immediately caught my attention. I prepared the cookies, they turned out very crumbly, piquant in taste, a little salty, for a lover like me. As for the cooking process, the dough came together well into a ball; I rolled it out immediately on a Teflon baking mat through a thick bag. I baked it in the oven until the fragrant smell of fried onions appeared (it was very unusual to smell such a smell, and not the aroma of baking or vanilla). The cookies turn out very tiny. To prevent it from crumbling after baking, it is better to make a layer of dough thicker (7-8 m), and even better, replace a small part of the oil with water (in which dissolve salt and soda). With such clarifications I will prepare cookies in the future. Thanks for the recipe!

The recipe specifies 60 ml vegetable oil. It’s not clear when to add it! I made cookies using this recipe. It crumbles, I tasted it, it was just quiet HORROR! Threw it in the trash. UGH! THAT'S DISGUSTING!

The cookies turned out great! Anna, thank you very much for the recipe! True, I didn’t use a rolling pin, but simply pinched off a small piece of dough, rolled it into a ball in my palms, and then flattened this ball in my palms until it was thin. Very tasty, moderately salty, aromatic, overall I’m very, very pleased! Here is my photo report -->>

Good day, I want to ask for advice, I do it as indicated in the recipe, but after rolling out the dough I can’t lift it to put it on a baking tray, it falls apart, what should I do with the dough, how can I fix this?
