STEP 1
How to bake chicken fillet in sour cream in the oven? First, prepare the necessary ingredients. You can use the chicken as boneless, skinless fillets like I did, or you can take a couple of whole chicken breasts with bones and skin on and cut them in half. But in this case, the baking time may increase. Take sour cream that is not very watery, with a fat content of 15-20%
STEP 2
Wash the chicken fillet and dry. You can make diagonal cuts on each fillet with a knife. Rub the chicken meat with chicken spices, salt and pepper. When using a prepared spice mixture, be sure to read the ingredients on the package. Often such mixtures already contain salt and pepper, take this into account, otherwise you risk oversalting and peppering the dish.
STEP 3
Peel the onion, cut into half rings or small cubes, as you like. Cutting will not affect the taste of the dish.
STEP 4
Finely chop the garlic with a knife.
STEP 5
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. You can use any cheese, as long as it melts during baking, forming a golden brown crust.
STEP 6
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan, add the onion and garlic and fry, stirring, over medium heat until the onion is transparent.
STEP 7
Place chicken fillet in a baking dish. Distribute fried onions and garlic on top.
STEP 8
Pour sour cream over everything. Thanks to sour cream and cheese, the chicken breast will retain its juiciness - after all, it is so easy to dry it out when baking. And the sour cream and cheese crust will prevent excessive evaporation of moisture from the chicken.
STEP 9
And sprinkle grated cheese on top. Bake chicken breasts in sour cream in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 40-45 minutes. If you have bone-in breasts, then a little longer. An appetizing golden brown crust should appear on the surface. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven. Bon appetit!
