Chicken broth in a slow cooker
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to cook chicken broth in a slow cooker? Prepare the chicken carcass by removing hairs and dividing it into desired pieces. You can generally buy individual parts of the carcass in the store, which are preferable for making broth. Rinse the chicken in water.
STEP 2
If it is not important for you to have a large amount of fat, remove it from wherever you can. I also shortened the skin as much as possible. It can generally be cut off.
STEP 3
You can pour water into the bowl and turn on the multicooker, covering it with a lid. It's good if you have the "broth" mode. If there is no such mode, select “soup” or follow the instructions for your device. In the meantime, we will prepare the remaining components. Wash the carrots and peel them. Rinse again and place the whole thing in the multicooker bowl.
STEP 4
Remove the topmost skins from the onion without peeling the bottom ones. Rinse it well and cut off what you consider necessary, which can spoil both the appearance and taste of the finished product. I cut off the tops and butts. By the way, I then added a little more onion peel to the broth. But this is optional.
STEP 5
Place the onion in the multicooker bowl, add bay leaves (you can also add peppercorns). Cover the multicooker with a lid and set the cooking time according to the instructions for your appliance. For me it's 1.5 hours. Salt the broth to taste half an hour before the end of cooking.
STEP 6
As soon as your assistant beeps, you can open the lid. The broth turned out just right. But when I took out the meat, all the scum, which we usually remove with a slotted spoon, rose to the top. Along with the meat, remove the vegetables and bay leaf.
STEP 7
Therefore, I further strained the broth by lining a fine sieve with a double cloth napkin. This is how it turned out, transparent, bright and rich.
STEP 8
Serve the broth with whatever you want. For example, I planned to just drink it. Therefore, in addition to spices, I only added a little green onion. A boiled egg, chopped chicken fillet, and so on will also go here. Bon appetit!
