Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 1 hr 40 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Prepare the dough. It's very simple - mix all the ingredients for the dough. Pour flour, salt, sugar into a cup, grind with softened butter. Pour in cold water and knead the dough in a cup.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

This amount of ingredients is enough to knead the dough to the desired consistency. Dust the table with flour and knead the dough well with your hands. At first it will crumble, continue kneading the dough, but then the butter will combine with the flour and the dough will become homogeneous.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the finished elastic dough in a plastic bag and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

In the meantime, let's get started with the filling. Wash the cherries, then cut them in half and remove the pits.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Drain the excess juice from the cherries, put them in a saucepan, put them on medium heat, add water - not a full glass.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

From the moment of boiling, cook the cherries for 10 minutes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

In a separate bowl, mix sugar and starch. Pour this mixture into the cherries and mix well. Cook, stirring, for another 5 minutes until the filling thickens. Then leave it to cool, you can put the cup in cold water for quick cooling.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

We take the dough out of the refrigerator, cut off about a third of the part, which will be used for braiding.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Roll out the second part of the dough, which is larger, into a circle. Roll out to a diameter larger than the shape to make sides. My mold is 24 cm in diameter. Grease the mold with oil and lay out the dough, pierce it with a fork.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Pour the cooled filling onto the dough.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Roll out a smaller part of the dough and cut into strips 1.5-2 cm wide. First lay them out in one direction.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Then we carefully lift the strips and lay the strips perpendicular to the first ones - we make a braid.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

We bend the remaining hanging strips along the edge of the mold, making a side.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Using the end of a fork, press down the edge of the dough and press it evenly to create a jagged edge.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Place the pie in a preheated oven at 180 degrees and bake for 40-45 minutes.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Leave the finished pie to cool.

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

Remove the cooled pie from the pan and cut into pieces. Don't be alarmed if some of the juice spills out with your first bite. The rest will set in jelly and will not spill out when cutting. Enjoy your tea!

Tatyana, if it were possible to transfer a piece of pie via the Internet, we would exchange the prepared one.

I’m also looking and licking my lips! I tried this recipe, but somehow I became too lazy to take the pits out of the cherries: it’s somehow easier from cherries. While I was looking closely, the cherries were gone... In general, I’m wondering: isn’t the taste of a filling like you, Vera, rather bland? Did you like it?
