Athletes say that the main thing is not victory, but participation. This statement applies to any competition. But I decided to bring benefit to myself, my precious one: to try recipes from chard. For those who do not know this plant, I will say that it can be planted in the center of a flower bed: the plant is tall, with large leaves and bright petioles. Someday I'll take a photo and show it to everyone. Now about the recipe. I practically took the idea of cabbage rolls, but prepared stuffed vegetables: peppers, zucchini, squash and chard leaves. And the minced meat is different: a little meat, rice, overcooked vegetables. I like this stuffing better. It is very juicy and aromatic. It took some time to deal with the chard leaves. I put several of them in boiling water at once, they became very soft right away. I had to wrap the minced meat in two sheets at once. Next time I’ll just pour boiling water over it and immediately place it in cold water. I think it will be easier this way. The prepared dish went off with a bang.

YumNumochka, these are cabbage rolls! I’ve never done anything like this, chard leaves - probably you can only get them now in the spring, or are they on sale? What do they taste like, fresh? I use tops from ordinary beets for spring hogweed, but cabbage rolls will be for the first time! Just minced meat with onions and no rice? It’s interesting, of course, that there is tomato in the recipe, otherwise I didn’t notice it in the recipe, but what would I do without it! I should try these cabbage rolls))

Yum, you know, a long time ago, I made cabbage rolls from raspberry leaves, and also from green bean leaves. I just didn’t have any cabbage on hand, I tried the raspberry leaves that grew on our plot, I liked them, that is, they had sourness and I thought why not. I cooked it, tried the cabbage rolls first, and then served it to the family. Everyone survived, and even praised. And to add emphasis and so that no one would guess, I prepared a sauce of matsoni with garlic. And from beet tops, they also offered an interesting version. Just wondering if they are not overcooked because they soften quickly. Shura, try this dish in the spring: boil the tops for about five minutes after boiling, even less when they become soft, but not very soft, add salt. Drain in a colander. Put vegetable oil and butter in half into a saucepan, then boiled tops, mix and pour in 2-3 beaten eggs. When eating, it is advisable to eat it with sour cream or kefir sauce with garlic.

I blanched the chard for only half a minute, and then threw it into cold water. In no case, otherwise it will be very soft and difficult to work with.

And about the tomato, this is a preparation that I make in advance and then use. I stewed the stems of leaves with onions and added this mixture (tomatoes, garlic, salt, a mixture of peppers) All this was a pillow for cabbage rolls.

Anait, thanks for the suggestion, I’ll definitely try it, it’s very interesting, I eat any kind of greens and kefir sauce with garlic too. The fact that you need to pour the tops with eggs = very true, this way the tops turn out more tender and tastier))) YumNamochka, what an original pillow you have!
