Casserole with potatoes, pork, hard cheese and onions

Pork with potatoes under a golden cheese crust! Quite a popular dish and easy to prepare. It turns out to be nourishing and tasty, but it’s true that it’s also quite high in calories. Men will especially like it; they love meat and potatoes, but many girls cannot resist such aromas.

Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 1 hr 30 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Wash the potatoes, peel them using a vegetable peeler, and rinse them so that no dirt remains on them. If necessary, cut out the “eyes” if there are any. Thinly slice it into circles 2-3 mm thick. It is better to cut it using a slicer with the necessary attachment (I used this tool), since in this case the potatoes will be more beautiful and the circles will have the same thickness, which is important for uniform baking of the potatoes.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Now divide the potatoes into two equal parts, one of which is placed on the bottom of the mold, pre-greased with vegetable oil. Salt the potato slices. Wash the pork, cut into pieces. Beat the pieces with a hammer, then place the next layer on the potato slices, completely covering the potatoes. Salt and pepper the meat to your taste.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Now peel the onion and cut it into thin half rings. Place the chopped onion in the next layer. Place the second half of potato slices on top of the onion. Sprinkle the potatoes with salt again and add a little ground black pepper if desired (optional).

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Now take a piece of cheese and grate it on a fine grater. Sprinkle it on top of the potatoes, then brush the cheese with mayonnaise. Now proceed directly to baking the meat and potatoes. To do this, preheat the oven to 180°C. When the oven is preheated to the desired temperature, place the pan with the dish inside, close the oven door and cook the dish until done.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

The exact cooking time depends on the oven and the thickness of the meat and potatoes. On average it will be from 40 to 60 minutes. I advise you to check the dish for readiness after 40 minutes, if necessary, put it in the oven and finish cooking. After taking the sample, it becomes clear how much more you need to cook, or you can take the sample again. Immediately divide the finished dish into portions, place on plates, serve and enjoy.
