  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Brew dried apricots and prunes with boiling water for 10 minutes, then rinse and chop. Leave some of the dried apricots for decoration.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Prepare the dough. In a cup, grind sugar with eggs, add sour cream, mix.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Then add flour, baking powder and vanillin, mix until smooth.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

The dough turns out to be medium liquid. We divide it into 3 parts.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Add poppy seeds to 1 part, prunes and nuts or seeds to 2 parts, chopped dried apricots or raisins to 3 parts.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Grease the prepared pan with oil, pour out 1 part of the dough and bake at 200 degrees for 20-30 minutes, depending on your oven. Check the readiness of the cake by piercing it with a skewer, the end of a knife or a toothpick; if it is dry at the end, then the sponge cake is ready. We also bake the remaining 2 cake layers.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Preparing the cream. Using a mixer, beat condensed milk with softened butter. Place in the refrigerator while the cakes are prepared.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Coat the cooled cakes with cream.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

I decorated the top of the cake with coconut shavings, then laid out chopped dried apricots in a spiral and sprinkled with chopped nuts. Leave the cake in the refrigerator for several hours to soak.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

    Bon appetit everyone!

I love cakes with condensed milk. I like the Anthill cake. The cream is the same made from condensed milk and butter.

Instant Poor Jew cake, very convenient. The biscuit itself is a quick option, but here the cream is also quick. The peculiarity of the sponge cake in this recipe is that it has cake layers with different flavors, such as dried apricots, nuts, poppy seeds. There were no prunes to be found. In my oven, the shortcakes were baked for 20 minutes. They cooled quickly, while the last cake was baking, the first one had already cooled down. I smeared it with cream and tried it two hours later, after cooling it in the refrigerator. The cake turned out delicious, most importantly, not dry. The cream soaked the cakes perfectly. Dried apricots, nuts and poppy seeds go together perfectly. Not cloying, moderately sweet. Cool cake, thank you.

And again, Khrumka never ceases to amaze us with her new interesting recipes! Cake "Poor Jew"! Looks delicious and appetizing! And it doesn’t seem difficult to execute... Prunes, dried apricots, walnuts, poppy seeds... Mmmm... It must be just amazingly delicious! Although, at the current prices for these products, it’s hard to call them “poor”! I'll definitely try to cook it! Thank you very much to the editors and the author of the recipe for the culinary masterpieces!

Maria, thank you for your feedback. When I saw the recipe for the cake, I had exactly the same thoughts: “why is this poor?” . I also remember that I prepared a cake where these components were added to different cake layers and the cake was called “Royal”. But since I read the Old Testament, I know that Jews often eat dried figs, dates, raisins and other dried fruits they always had in stock. This is the explanation I found for the name of the cake.
