    STEP 1

How to make pearl barley in a pressure cooker? Prepare ingredients for making pearl barley porridge as a side dish. The main thing is that the pearl barley is fresh, of high quality, and light. In a multicooker-frying pan, pearl barley will turn out tender, soft and tasty if you cook it with the addition of milk. You will learn the subtleties of preparing pearl barley by reading the article at the end of the recipe.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the pearl barley thoroughly, changing the water several times until the latter becomes transparent. Pour cold, clean water over the pearl barley and leave for 2 hours so that the barley swells a little. Ideally, leave the barley overnight, if time permits. Drain the water from the bowl with the grain, place the barley in a colander and rinse it again under running water.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the pearl barley into the multicooker bowl.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add salt to taste. Pour in water and milk. Close the lid and valve. Set the program to “pilaf” for 15 minutes. While cooking porridge, the pressure cooker must not be opened. When the cooking program ends, a signal will sound, open the valve, release steam, and only then open the lid. The porridge is ready. Add a piece of butter, stir and serve.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

If you don’t have a pressure cooker, you can cook the porridge in a regular slow cooker. In a regular multicooker, the process of cooking pearl barley porridge will be a little longer; you need to select the “porridge” program for 25 minutes or “multi-cooker” depending on the multicooker model. Remember that multicookers work differently and the time and mode may not match. Read more about multicookers in a separate article at the end of the recipe.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Tasty and tender pearl barley porridge is ready, and thanks to cooking it in a multicooker-pressure cooker, this dish turned out to be not only quick and simple, but also very healthy, since when cooked under pressure, all the vitamins and nutrients remain in the cereal, unlike the usual long-term cooking of pearl barley . If desired, pearl barley porridge can be prepared immediately along with meat and vegetables. Bon appetit!

I liked the recipe for pearl barley in a pressure cooker. Everything is very simple, easy to prepare, and the result is excellent! I pre-washed the barley and soaked it overnight, it swollen well. I haven’t cooked this kind of porridge with milk yet; I usually just boil it in salted water. It turned out that it’s even better with milk. I kept the proportions of cereal and liquid. I set the multicooker to “porridge” mode, I didn’t indicate the time, I just waited for the program to complete. After the beep, I opened the lid and saw that there was still liquid left. Then she closed the lid again and left the porridge to simmer for about 20 minutes. After that, all the liquid was absorbed and the porridge became well-cooked and tender. With butter we made a very tasty and nutritious pearl barley porridge for breakfast!
