STEP 1
How to bake mackerel with potatoes in the oven? It's very simple. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use fresh or frozen mackerel. If using frozen, it must be properly defrosted on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator before cooking.
STEP 2
Gut the fish, remove the head and fins and rinse thoroughly. It is more convenient to gut slightly frozen fish. Therefore, before cleaning the mackerel, put it in the freezer for 30 minutes. If you are using frozen, uneviscerated fish, wait until it thaws a little, clean it and return it to the refrigerator to continue thawing.
STEP 3
Rub each carcass with salt and pepper inside and out.
STEP 4
Peel the potatoes and cut into slices.
STEP 5
Peel the onion and cut into half rings.
STEP 6
Place potatoes in a baking dish. Pour vegetable oil over it and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
STEP 7
Spread the chopped onion on top.
STEP 8
Place the fish on top of the vegetables. Pour boiling water into the mold. Place the pan in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 25-50 minutes. It took me 50 minutes, but you can use your oven as a guide. If the fish is ready but the potatoes are still a little tough, you can remove the fish from the pan, cover the pan with foil or a lid and cook the potatoes until done.
STEP 9
Garnish the finished baked mackerel with potatoes and onions with fresh herbs and serve immediately. Bon appetit!
