How to bake mackerel with potatoes in the oven? It's very simple. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use fresh or frozen mackerel. If using frozen, it must be properly defrosted on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator before cooking.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Gut the fish, remove the head and fins and rinse thoroughly. It is more convenient to gut slightly frozen fish. Therefore, before cleaning the mackerel, put it in the freezer for 30 minutes. If you are using frozen, uneviscerated fish, wait until it thaws a little, clean it and return it to the refrigerator to continue thawing.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Rub each carcass with salt and pepper inside and out.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Peel the potatoes and cut into slices.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Peel the onion and cut into half rings.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place potatoes in a baking dish. Pour vegetable oil over it and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Spread the chopped onion on top.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place the fish on top of the vegetables. Pour boiling water into the mold. Place the pan in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 25-50 minutes. It took me 50 minutes, but you can use your oven as a guide. If the fish is ready but the potatoes are still a little tough, you can remove the fish from the pan, cover the pan with foil or a lid and cook the potatoes until done.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Garnish the finished baked mackerel with potatoes and onions with fresh herbs and serve immediately. Bon appetit!

I wanted to cook mackerel with potatoes baked in the oven with some deviations from the recipe. Firstly, to speed up the cooking process, I changed the way I cut the vegetables - I cut the potatoes into small flat slices, and the onions into small cubes - I combined them in a bowl and mixed them together with salt, pepper and vegetable oil. Secondly, I stuffed the mackerel with thin strips of carrots and sprinkled it with lemon juice. I put everything in a deep oblong mold with a lid, and placed the milk next to the fish. Since the mackerel did not fit completely into the mold, I wrapped the protruding tail with a piece of foil to prevent it from burning. I cooked it for about 40 minutes, maybe a little longer, I didn’t record the exact time, the potatoes and fish were ready at the same time. It turned out to be a very tasty dish, the fish was wonderful, and the potatoes were aromatic! This dish can not only be prepared for dinner, but also served at the holiday table! Thanks for the recipe!

Baked mackerel with potatoes and onions in the oven turned out very tasty. I made it with smaller portions than the author, for testing, so to speak. I cut the potatoes into thin slices so that they were baked accurately. It took half an hour to bake in my oven. For the last 10 minutes the dish reached a temperature of 160C.
