Apples in syrup slices
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make apples in syrup for the winter? Prepare everything you need: apples, a few sprigs of mint and sugar. What varieties of apples are best to use? Any fruit will do; if the apples are very sweet, then take a pinch of citric acid for a brighter and richer taste. The number of apples in the recipe is indicated conditionally, it all depends on how tightly you will pack them in the jars.
STEP 2
Wash the apples thoroughly and dry with paper towels. Cut each apple into slices, removing the core and stem attachment points.
STEP 3
Wash the jars well and sterilize them in any way convenient for you: in the microwave, oven or in a water bath. Place apple slices to the top.
STEP 4
Rinse the mint in clean water. Place one or two sprigs in each jar, depending on how intense the mint flavor you want in the finished dessert.
STEP 5
Pour boiling water over the apples. Pour in water carefully and gradually to prevent the jars from cracking.
STEP 6
Cover the jars with pre-sterilized lids and leave for 15-20 minutes.
STEP 7
Drain the apples into a small saucepan and add sugar. You will need 400 grams of sugar per liter of water. In order not to make mistakes in the calculations, I first drain the water from the jars into a measuring cup, and then into the pan. I got about half a liter of water and added 200 grams of sugar accordingly. So, add the required amount of sugar and send the pan to the fire. After boiling, reduce the flame to moderate and leave until the sugar is completely dissolved.
STEP 8
Fill the jars with the prepared hot syrup.
STEP 9
Close the lids using a special key.
STEP 10
Turn the workpiece upside down and leave it under a warm blanket or towel until it cools completely. Place apples in a cool, dark place for long-term storage. I have jars on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
