    After boiling the vegetables for one hour, turn down the heat on the stove and add sugar, salt, a hot mixture of garlic and pepper, vegetable oil and black peppercorns to the pan with the vegetables.

    Thoroughly stir all the ingredients into the pan and cook for about twenty minutes.
