Radish salad

Radishes contain a lot of vitamins and microelements, which is especially valuable in the winter-spring period, when in nature there is an obvious tension with all this. Plus, it blends amazingly well with most other foods, making it an ideal salad ingredient. You can even diversify your radish salad using cutting methods: this pungent-tasting vegetable can be chopped into thin slices or cubes. Grate it, coarse or fine, adding it in this form to sauces, even to regular mayonnaise.

The dish is also good for its quick preparation: usually, radish salad recipes consist of products that do not require heat treatment. And you can prepare them in 5-10 minutes, so that afterward you can crunch something fresh and tasty to your heart’s content.

Ideal products for such a “tandem”: fresh cucumber, salad leaves, various types of greens, including green onions, boiled chicken eggs, arugula, oranges, lemons, boiled or smoked chicken breast, seeds and nuts such as pine nuts, capers, soft cheese, spinach, sorrel, young white cabbage, green peas, canned corn. The list can be continued and supplemented to suit your tastes.

If you come across a radish that is too hot, its bitterness can be, if not removed completely, then drowned out and made unnoticeable. This is done in several ways.

Method one.

Dilute a spoonful of salt in cold water and immerse the peeled radishes in it for half an hour. Then rinse and cut into salad. The excess bitterness should disappear.

Method two.

Cut the radishes into thin slices and sprinkle with salt. Let stand for a while, rinse off the salt with water. To be sure, you can also add lemon juice, but for this it is better to place the vegetables in a small bowl so that the liquid covers most of them.

Method three.

Instead of sauces, mayonnaise and vegetable oil, use regular sour cream for salad. It neutralizes any bitterness well.
