Beef with prunes
There are so many options for preparing beef with prunes that you get tired of sorting through them. There are several varieties of classic recipes, methods of cooking in the oven, slow cooker, pressure cooker, on the stove in a saucepan, in a frying pan, in a sleeve, foil, clay pots. Sliced into pieces or whole. Pickled or beaten with a kitchen hammer. On the bone or as a fillet. Stewed, fried, baked - and so on.
Classic recipe: beef stewed on the stove with prunes. For it, in addition to the main products, you need to take onions, carrots, garlic, tomato paste, vegetable oil, and spices to taste. And for richer flavors, add other dried fruits to prunes: dried apricots, raisins.
First, cut the meat into pieces of the required size. Then these pieces are fried in oil so that a faint crust appears. As soon as it appears, immediately pour in water so that it covers all the meat, cover with a lid and simmer over low heat until fully cooked. This usually takes about an hour. As soon as 50 minutes have passed, add the washed prunes (whole). At the end of the stewing, fry carrots with onions and garlic, tomato paste.
The thickness of the sauce can be changed by adding liquid or adding toasted flour. In the first case we get a more liquid version, in the second - a thicker one. Flour can be wheat, oat, corn, rice.
In the same way, you can stew meat in pots in the oven, and then serve it in them. This dish goes very well with a rice side dish. And, of course, potatoes (which generally go with almost everything).
Instead of stewing, you can choose frying. With this method, the beef is first fried separately, then with the addition of steamed prunes.
Beef baked in the oven in a mold also turns out very well. With this method, the products are laid out in layers and then filled with sauce.
