Yeast dough cakes in a frying pan

Tasty and aromatic, just like when you were a child with your grandmother! Many people are most likely familiar with the taste of homemade flatbread made from yeast dough, especially those who spent their childhood in the village with their grandmother in the summer. These flatbreads are especially good hot with cold milk. In addition, they can be served instead of bread.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to fry yeast cakes in a frying pan? Prepare your ingredients. Heat the milk to about 30 C, it should be warm, but not scalding, otherwise the yeast in it will die. In a bowl, combine warm milk, a tablespoon of flour, sugar, stir until smooth and leave in a warm place for 10-15 minutes. During this time, a foam cap should appear on the surface. Melt the butter in a convenient manner and cool to room temperature.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Beat the egg into a separate bowl, add salt and lightly beat everything with a fork. Add 80 grams of warm butter (the rest will be needed to grease the cakes). Then pour the dough into the bowl and stir lightly. Add sifted flour in parts. Knead the elastic dough, it should not be too tight and at the same time liquid. Cover the pan with the dough with a towel and leave in a warm place for 2 hours. During this time, knead the risen dough three times.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

On a floured surface, divide the dough into small pieces, each of which roll out into a small cake the size of the pan in which they will be fried. Leave the cakes for 15 minutes in a warm place to rise.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pour a little vegetable oil into a frying pan and fry all the flatbreads one at a time until golden brown on both sides. These flatbreads can be fried without oil in a non-stick frying pan, but in this case the flatbreads will turn out pale and dry.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Remove the tortilla from the pan and immediately brush it with melted butter on both sides. If you have homemade butter, the cakes will be especially fragrant and soft. If the tortillas are not buttered, they will be dry and crispy.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Serve flatbreads made from yeast dough to the table; they are very tasty hot with cold milk. Also, flatbreads can be served as a substitute for bread for hot dishes, salads or soup. Bon appetit!

Today I made cakes from yeast dough in a frying pan. Instead of milk I used 10% cream. Instead of butter, I added vegetable oil. She kneaded the dough and let it rise. She divided the dough into equal parts. I rolled them into circles and fried them in a dry frying pan. I greased the finished cakes with butter and covered them with a lid. Thanks to this, the flatbreads remained soft. An excellent substitute for bread. My whole family and I really enjoyed it. Snezhana, thanks for the recipe!
