Turkish baklava
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make Turkish baklava at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Sift the flour into a large bowl, make a well in it, break one egg into it and add 50 grams of butter melted in a water bath or in the microwave and a pinch of salt. Pour a glass of warm milk there.
STEP 2
Stir the egg-butter-milk mixture with a fork, gradually adding flour from the edges of the well. Knead the dough. It should turn out dense and elastic. You may need less or more flour, since different manufacturers have different properties. Read more about the properties of flour in the article at the end of this recipe.
STEP 3
When the dough is ready, cover it with a kitchen towel and place it in a warm place to rest for half an hour.
STEP 4
How to make the filling for Turkish baklava with walnuts? Grind the nuts to crumbs using a blender, add powdered sugar and cinnamon, mix.
STEP 5
After half an hour, take out the dough and divide it into 20 equal balls.
STEP 6
Take one ball of dough, roll it out into a thin sheet, then brush with melted butter.
STEP 7
Place about 2 tablespoons of filling on the plate, leaving 2-3 centimeters from the edges of the plate. Place a pencil or small stick on top.
STEP 8
Roll the plate into a roll shape using a pencil.
STEP 9
Move the edges of the roll towards the middle and remove the pencil.
STEP 10
Roll 20 rolls in this manner. Grease a baking dish with butter and place the prepared rolls on it tightly together. Mix the egg yolk with a spoonful of milk and brush each roll with this mixture. Next, place the mold in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 10-15 minutes. Time and temperature are approximate, use your stove as a guide. Read about the operating features of ovens in the article at the end of the recipe.
STEP 11
When the time is up, remove the baklava and brush with the remaining melted butter. Place it in the oven, reduce the temperature to 170°C and bake for about 40 minutes to 1 hour until the baklava is completely golden. It may take a little less or a little more time, depending on your oven.
STEP 12
How to make syrup for baklava? Mix honey and water in a saucepan, put on fire and cook this mixture for about 10 minutes after boiling. (Choose natural, aromatic honey; the taste of the finished baked goods will depend on the taste of the honey)
STEP 13
After the baking time has passed, remove the baklava from the oven and pour in the prepared honey syrup, sprinkle chopped nuts on top, and let sit for about 1.5-2 hours. Our Turkish baklava with honey is ready. Bon appetit!
