Sweet flatbreads in a frying pan

Soft, simple, affordable. For breakfast or afternoon tea. Sweet flatbreads in a frying pan are suitable as a separate treat for tea or coffee instead of bread. By reducing the amount of sugar, you can get a savory version of this pastry. Children will especially like these cakes.

How to fry sweet cakes in a frying pan? First, prepare the necessary ingredients from the list. Use premium flour. You can increase or decrease the amount of sugar to your taste. To give the cakes a vanilla flavor, you can add a little vanillin to the dough or replace some of the sugar with vanilla.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Sift the flour into a bowl. Make a small well in the flour.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Break an egg into the flour, pour in warm water and vegetable oil, add sugar, baking powder and salt.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Knead into a smooth, elastic, non-sticky dough, adding a little more flour or water if necessary.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the dough in a bowl, cover with cling film and leave warm for 30 minutes.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Divide the dough into 5-6 equal pieces and roll them into balls.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

I used 85 g of dough for each part. Roll out each part with a rolling pin or stretch it with your hands into a small round cake with a diameter of about 12 cm. Prepare the remaining cakes in the same way.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Heat a little vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the flatbreads and fry on both sides until golden brown. You can use any oil for frying according to your taste. I have sunflower.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the finished cakes on a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm or completely cooled with tea, coffee, milk or cocoa. Bon appetit!

Instead of bread, sometimes I bake these yeast flatbreads. They can also be made sweet.

Sweet flatbreads in a frying pan are a delicious, budget-friendly delicacy that is easy and quick to prepare. I kneaded the dough as indicated in the recipe. I added an extra handful of flour so it wouldn't stick to my hands as much. Another small amount of flour also went into the dust of the work surface. I tried to roll out the cakes thinner, because due to the added soda they still rose during frying. I fried it in a well-heated frying pan and periodically added a little vegetable oil. The flatbreads browned very quickly; I didn’t have time to roll them out. The flatbreads turned out to be rich in taste, with pleasantly crispy bubbles. I didn't sprinkle them with powdered sugar, the children said they were sweet enough. I liked the recipe, I will definitely make these again, thank you!

Quick and easy to cook. A simple recipe for delicious tea cakes that everyone loved. I will continue to make these flatbreads when I want something tasty, but don’t have the ingredients to make something special. They taste moderately sweet - just right for sprinkling with powdered sugar or topping with jam or honey. If you like sweeter baked goods, you can add a little more sugar.
