Stuffed cabbage rolls with sour cream
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make delicious cabbage rolls with sour cream in a saucepan? To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. I cook in a saucepan, but this dish can be made in a cauldron on the stove and even baked in the oven. You can use ready-made store-bought minced meat.
STEP 2
Wash the head of cabbage, remove the damaged top leaves. You can cut the stalk right away or leave it, as you prefer. Boil water in a large saucepan. Lay out the whole head of cabbage. Cook until the leaves begin to separate freely. Carefully separate the cabbage into individual leaves. Try to remove as many leaves as possible.
STEP 3
Now prepare the stuffing for cabbage rolls. Cut the chicken and pork into pieces and pass through a meat grinder or grind in a blender.
STEP 4
Rinse the rice until it is clean and boil in plenty of boiling salted water until cooked or half cooked. The main thing is that the rice turns out fluffy. Place the rice in a colander and let all the water drain.
STEP 5
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.
STEP 6
In a bowl, combine minced pork and chicken, rice, onion, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth. If you wish, you can add your own spices to the minced meat to taste.
STEP 7
Cut off the thickenings at the bottom of the removed leaves. Place a little filling on the edge of each cabbage leaf and fold the leaf into an envelope, tucking the edges. Form all the other cabbage rolls in the same way.
STEP 8
Now prepare the ingredients for sour cream filling. You can use sour cream of any fat content.
STEP 9
Pour water or broth into the sour cream, add salt and pepper and stir until smooth.
STEP 10
Cut the onion into small cubes.
STEP 11
Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater.
STEP 12
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Stirring, fry the onion and carrots for 5-7 minutes until soft.
STEP 13
Place all the cabbage rolls in a deep saucepan. Distribute fried carrots and onions on top.
STEP 14
Pour the sour cream mixture over everything. Add bay leaf.
STEP 15
Simmer the cabbage rolls over medium heat, covered, for about 1 hour until done. If the broth is boiling too hot, reduce the heat to an acceptable level and simmer the cabbage rolls a little longer.
STEP 16
Place the finished cabbage rolls on plates, sprinkle with chopped herbs and serve with sour cream. Bon appetit!
